Percy was the son of Joe and Annie Walker who both worked in the Textile Trade, he had one younger brother. For many years Percy was employed by Messrs Law & Sons Ltd of Cleckheaton, he was a Machine Tenter by trade. He was a member of the Beck Lane Working Men's Club and had played football for both Heckmondwike United and Birstall Parish Church teams.

He joined the Duke of Wellington’s (West Yorkshire Regiment) on the 19th February 1916 and later transferred to the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He went to France in July 1916 and died of shrapnel wounds to the head the following year.{PL-135}
