Thomas was born at the end of 1896 and was the son of Thomas Walker of Liveresdge and Eva Dobson of Leeds. Sadly, just before Thomas Dobson was born, his father died leaving his widow Eva with at least 5 young children.
Eva married Arthur Haigh in 1898. Arthur was a widower and already had at least three children. Arthur and Eva had a child together named Dobson Haigh. Thomas was living with his mother, stepfather and step siblings at Joanroyd in 1911. He enlisted in Bradford and joined the King’s Royal Rifle Corps.
He was killed in action on 15th September 1916 and is buried at Bulls Road Cemetery at Flers in France.
He was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. His name in inscribed on the War Memorials of St. James’s Church and St. Saviour’s Church.{MA-137}
